Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television journalist, commentator and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). The following year, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. The year 1981 saw her begin covering the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. She became chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was a host and panelist in the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist at the 1988 debates between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her role to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news reports, including arm control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended many summits with the help of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
